A new retention bonus scheme that targets senior enlisted sailors in naval special warfare who are classified as special warfare combatant craft board operators (052X) or SEAL special warfare operations (026X). The marine service’s latest attempt to improve retention is the new program.
The NAVADMIN states, “The NSW SSRB is part of the overall Navy effort to size, shape, and stabilize the force.” The senior enlisted sailors with the two categories must have between 20 and 28 years of service, an E-7 or higher pay grade, and be qualified for the retention incentive. Additionally, the sailors need to be on active duty and have their commanding officer’s approval. The minimum length of an enlistment contract for sailors who want to receive the retention incentive is two years. According to the NAVADMIN, the retention bonus contracts last for two to three years.
