Military snipers from all over the world participated in two-person teams at Fort Chaffee from December 2–9 for the 32nd Armed Forces Skill at Arms Meeting and the 52nd Winston P. Wilson Sniper Championship of the National Guard.
The 36-team competitive shooting event was held at the National Guard Marksmanship Training Center. According to 2nd Lt. Daniel Condit of the National Guard Marksmanship Training Center, the competitions evaluated sniper abilities and weaponry in a combat-oriented setting. First place went to the Utah National Guard’s Winston P. Wilson Sniper Team. Second placed was the Minnesota National Guard squad. Third place went to the Massachusetts National Guard squad. The Utah National Guard won the award for the best precise engagement team. The Colorado National Guard has the winning silent hunter team.
