HRV, or heart rate variability, is the interval between each pulse. It is more difficult to assess than heart rate or pulse since not all wearables give it. The Whoop tracker utilizes this measure and many others to determine whether you have sufficiently recovered from your previous exercise. It may provide information on your general health, stress, training, and more. The sympathetic nervous system controls involuntary bodily functions such as heart rate, digestion, and blood pressure. 

The parasympathetic nervous system response, sometimes known as the “rest and digest” state, is necessary for the body to digest meals. If your HRV is excellent (higher values are preferable), you are in an ideal condition for exercise and stress adaptation. The Whoop and the Apple Watch are two of the most popular products that include HRV monitoring. A healthy HRV indicates that your nervous system can adjust effectively to different settings. HRV varies by age and person; it is advisable to monitor your own patterns.
