Twenty troops — 17 players and three trainers — will play in the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, next month, representing the United States in wrestling, boxing, shooting, and swimming, among other disciplines. Many of the troops are part of the Army’s World Class Athlete Program, which enables them to “develop their skills with expert civilian and military instructors at America’s world-class facilities” and compete on a global level. Members of the US Army Marksmanship Unit, which is divided into five competitive shooting divisions, are among the other soldiers. Some of the soldiers who will join the competition include Staff Sgt. Naomi Graham, Staff Sgt. Sandra Uptagrafft and 1st Lt. Amber English, among others.
