For the first time, the U.S. Marine Corps has successfully passed a full financial audit, marking a significant achievement as the first branch of the U.S. military to do so. The audit, conducted by Ernst and Young over two years, confirmed the accuracy of the Marine Corps’ financial records.
This milestone comes after nearly two decades of efforts and several previous audit attempts. Auditors verified over 7,800 real property assets, 5,900 pieces of military equipment, 1.9 million non-ammunition supplies, and 24 million ammunition items. The audit involved more than 70 site visits worldwide.
