In spite of worries about the impact on corporate culture and innovation capacity, leaders are addressing employee demands for more flexible work arrangements.
Hybrid work refers to a flexible schedule that divides working hours between an office and another place, usually a home office. During the two years that we investigated market-dominating multinational companies that had embraced the strategy during the COVID-19 pandemic, its durability became clear. The need for hybrid working is mostly driven by workforce needs. Employees are reasonable in their demands for more flexibility to work where and when they want, citing their strong performance when they worked from home during the worst of the pandemic. Leaders are aware that in order to draw in, keep, and inspire top talent, they must provide flexible work options.
