National Butterfly Center denies Texas National Guard’s assertion that it left a weapon unlocked by mistake.
The National Butterfly Center and the Texas National Guard have been at odds for months. The chief official of the Butterfly preserve is a vocal liberal activist, who Air Force veteran Brian Kolfage and soon to be federal inmate for defrauding donors to his “We Build the Wall” fund, bashed Treviño Wright as a “left wing ‘thug’ with a ‘sham’ butterfly agenda”
In January, Texas Guard soldiers rammed a vehicle through an access road gate, The Butterfly preserve chief, Marianna Trevio Wright claims it was on her land.
In the latest incident between the two. A Texas National Guard soldier left a loaded M4A1 in an unmarked, unlocked and running truck with no supervision. Marianna claims she took the weapon to her office for safekeeping, fearing that someone dangerous could have taken it. The Texas Military Department verified the occurrence and said an inquiry is currently underway.
