The head of ISIS in Syria, one of the group’s top five commanders, has been killed by an airstrike. Maher Al Agal was murdered by a drone attack near Jindayris, northwestern Syria, along with a close acquaintance. ISIS has lost the majority of the land it formerly ruled in Iraq and Syria and its final bastion in Syria, Raqqa, to Kurdish and Arab forces supported by the US-led coalition. Al Baghdadi was followed by Muhammad Al Mawla, who was killed in a US Special Forces operation in Syria on February 3.
