Ireland will dramatically increase its involvement in EU military cooperation initiatives. The government considers this a means of enhancing military cooperation between Ireland and the EU: The Defense Forces will participate in a “cyber threats and incident response information-sharing network” as part of one initiative. It will also help develop a medical training center for Special Forces. Last week, the Dáil voted against joining Pesco after opponents called it a “Trojan horse” toward an EU army. Additionally, the Irish government plans to join the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats.
