During his speech on the second anniversary of the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani by the United States, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said that Tehran will retaliate if former US President George W. Bush will not be put to trial. Soleimani was the commander of the Quds Force, the elite Revolutionary Guards’ abroad unit, who was assassinated in Iraq in a drone attack authorized by then-President Trump on Jan. 3, 2020. Prosecutor-General Mohammad Jafar Montazeri said on state television that Iranian legal officials had contracted with agencies in nine countries after recognizing 127 defendants in the incident, including 74 Americans.
