Iran’s Intelligence Ministry announced Tuesday that Iranian officials have apprehended six Mossad teams operating in the country.
Iranian authorities identified 23 accused operators in the provinces of Tehran, Isfahan, Yazd, West Azarbaijan, and Golestan, while 13 people who were in the country were arrested. According to the ministry, the Mossad was attempting to “take advantage” of the widespread protests in Iran by assassinating a military official and carrying out other “sabotage operations” in major cities. The network is also accused of attempting to carry massive quantities of explosives from Iran’s southern coast. Just days before that declaration, the ministry claimed to have foiled a Mossad plot to undermine its defense industries.
