An Afghan-born interpreter who worked with US Special Forces and Marines in Afghanistan has arrived in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Rafi worked with American troops for five years from 2010 until he was wounded in 2014. He fled to Greece in 2016 after being threatened by the Taliban and was finally able to register as an immigrant in Greece in 2020. Rafi’s arrival in the US has brought new challenges, including the need to obtain American citizenship to bring his family to the US. He also faces physical limitations due to his injuries.
