The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has helped boost global arms sales, with Western weapons makers among the main beneficiaries.
Two weeks ago, the US State Department approved a potential $10bn deal with Poland for a new fleet of HIMARS and related equipment. Warsaw also ordered American Abrams tanks last year after supplying Kiev with more than 200 of its Soviet-era T-72s. Other countries, such as Estonia, Finland and Lithuania, have similarly given Ukraine Soviet-era arms and sought to replace them with western equipment. While increased US-China tensions have also helped boost arms sales, the Ukraine war has played a central role in driving demand.
