Elite Kenyan troops from the QRF (Quick Reaction Force) carried out a covert operation in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo that neutralized an unspecified number of terrorists. The troops were dispatched to Mavivi in Beni Eastern Congo in June 2021 as peacekeepers. Their primary objective was to halt the growth of ADF, also known as the Islamic State of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, an ISIS offshoot. According to MONUSCO, “the coordinated offensive action begun with an attacker Helicopter that neutralized 5 targets. Thereafter KENQRF launched a ground attack that cleared all the remaining targets,” The ADF is known for their brutality against civilians, killing upward of 850 people in just one year.
