How does Britain intend to ensure everyone’s safety? What about VIPs’ personal security?
In advance of Monday’s burial for Queen Elizabeth II in London, a significant security effort is under way. King Charles III, numerous other foreign leaders, and President Joe Biden will attend the funeral. The funeral presents a significant security concern because it involves a public ceremony by its very nature. There will be a mix of overt and covert security at the funeral. It will take place in Westminster Abbey, which is the political counterpart of Capitol Hill in London. Police counter-sniper squads will be stationed on the buildings above and the roads surrounding Westminster Abbey will be restricted. Biden’s close-proximity Secret Service will remain armed. However, due to the UK’s stricter gun laws only agents with close proximity to the president will be armed when moving around the capital.
