Vaping is more popular among teenagers than other drugs like alcohol and marijuana, according to a study from the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research, even if actual tobacco usage among them is still at record-low levels.
A concerning 7.8% of eighth-graders admit to vaping, according to this year’s report. The study also discovered that 20.7% of seniors in high school who vaped nicotine throughout the same period did so. The Obama Administration’s 2009 federal ban on flavored tobacco is thought to be the cause of these developments, as e-cigarette manufacturers stepped in to fill the vacancy by focusing on fruity tastes.
