The Combat Exclusion Policy was lifted in January 2013, which allowed more Americans to join the U.S. Female troops can join the renowned Army Special Forces, the Green Berets. Only a few women have applied for the Special Forces Assessment and Selection process thus far, and even fewer have been chosen. In fact, the evaluation and selection criteria are so stringent that it took years before the first woman was chosen.
