Google’s reportedly bidding to be a military cloud provider | The Verge

According to The New York Times, Google is apparently pushing “aggressively” to secure a deal with the Pentagon, despite the fact that some of its prior Department of Defense projects provoked substantial employee outrage. According to the report, engineers from Google’s Cloud division have been delegated to focus on a presentation for Google to contribute to the Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability program, which the Department of Defense defines as an effort to “achieve dominance in both traditional and non-traditional warfighting domains.” The deal Google is apparently considering is one that will allow numerous companies to submit proposals and perform work on, and the Department of Defense believes it to be a multibillion-dollar endeavor.
