Numerous people have been detained by German authorities on suspicion of planning to overthrow the German government.
The suspects in this coup attempt belong to a number of far-right extremist organizations and are purported to be Qanon adherents who have been influenced by American ideologies. 52 people are allegedly planning a violent takeover of the government, according to the federal prosecutor of Germany.25 suspects from various far-right political movements, including the so-called Reichsburger, or German residents of the Reichs who reject the current German state and seek to do away with democracy, have been apprehended by police. There are, according to German internal intelligence, 21,000 so-called Reichsburger who oppose the modern German state and democracy.
