The 3rd Special Forces Group is testing a new mortar system platform. According to the group, special operations soldiers may utilize the mortar system anywhere in the world.

The 120mm mortar weapon system is being tested by the 3rd Special Forces Group of the Army. Through a collaboration with Elbit Systems of America in Fort Worth, Texas, the system is being created. According to an Army press statement, it will “soon upgrade firepower capabilities on the battlefield.” The Israeli company Elbit Systems has been awarded a $49 million contract with the Army for the development of an unmanned aerial vehicle. According to a press statement from the company, members of the Special Forces are testing the “Sling” technology while it is still under development. According to an Army release, the technology would provide “more mobility and diverse capabilities on the battlefield.”
