In reaction to the 9/11 al-Qaida attacks on American territory, A 12-person team of U.S. Special Forces assisted the led the campaign to oust the Taliban. That team was led into the challenging conditions of the northern provinces of Afghanistan by Mark Nutsch, a former Army Ranger and special operations officer. In the film “12 Strong,” Nutsch and his group are shown working to bring together the various forces fighting the Taliban and al-Qaida while frequently riding horses. At the North Platte Community Playhouse’s 40th anniversary of the Town Hall Lecture Series on Tuesday, he related some of these difficult times to an enthusiastic audience.
