First Air Force Combat Dive Course graduates to receive new Air Force combat diver badge upon graduation | AETC

When Class 22-6 of the Air Force Combat Dive Course graduates on October 20, 2022, they will be the first to acquire the new Air Force combat dive badge.

The Air Force Combat Dive Badge is the result of six weeks of demanding work at the AFCDC for Class 22-6, but it took more than two years of labor for the Special Warfare Training Wing airmen who created the new badge.  “The new badge is symbolic of what Air Force combat divers must be ready to execute in the operational environment, namely underwater tactical diving for insertion, extraction, and maritime rescue and recovery operations.” remarked by Maj. Jordan Nichols, commander of Detachment One of the 350th Special Warfare Training Squadron, who is in charge of the AFCDC. Air Force Special Warfare trainees attended the U.S. before the AFCDC was founded in 2006. The U.S. Army Combat Diver Qualification Course the U.S. Marine Combat Diver Course They received the Navy Scuba certificate and badge after passing the Special Operations Command combatant diver qualification, which represents a separate set of skills from those of AF combat divers.
