Brian Bourgeois, the SEAL Team commander who died from injuries he sustained during a fast rope training exercise in Virginia, was honored during this weekend’s Army-Navy football game.
Bourgeois is remembered as an outstanding family man and military leader, someone who will be dearly missed by those who were close to him. Once a member of the Navy football team, Bourgeois is survived by a wife and five children.
Navy, who traditionally takes the field carrying American, Navy, and Marine Corps flags, added a SEAL Team 8 flag to the mix to honor Bourgeois.
Sophomore wide receiver Jayden Umbarger scored Navy’s first touchdown while wearing a SEAL Team 8 patch on his uniform.
