An ex-U.S. Army Special Forces soldier who now works for a Dubai-based anti-counterfeiting company claims that before being detained on spurious accusations, he was “handcuffed, hauled from the airport, and humiliated in public.”
According to a recently filed lawsuit that The Daily Beast was able to receive, combat veteran Scott F. Butler is now suing his former partner Essam Al-Tamimi for tens of millions of dollars in damages for what Butler alleges has been an ongoing attempt to ruin his life. Butler alleges that an ex-colleague, a Harvard-educated lawyer with connections to Arab monarchy, waged “total war” against him. Butler asserts that Al-Tamimi filed fictitious criminal and civil accusations against him up to this point and used his connections and power to “weaponize the legal system in the United Arab Emirates.”
