Europe’s most cooperative islands? | BBC Travel

Must Read

The Åland Islands are an independent Finnish archipelago lying in the Baltic Sea between Finland and Sweden. A Viking warrior, Saint Olav, traveled around the Baltic Sea and created a new, eastern section of the St Olav Ways. Last year the St Olav Waterway became the first certified European Cultural Route on Åland. The 6,700 Åland Islands are a part of Finland but contain rich history from both Finland and Sweden, who consistently fought over the islands a hundred years ago.
