Under a new agreement to manage and monitor the Tactical Assault Kit, or TAK, an extensively utilized communication network for the military, Draper, one of the nation’s premier technology companies for national defense, will expand its assistance for the warfighter. The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) of the United States Department of Defense recently awarded the firm a sole-source deal. TAK is a mobile computing solution that delivers increased operational capabilities for command and control by providing users with a map-based common operating picture on a shared network. The program is designed to be installed on tablets and other lightweight handheld devices, and it features a plug-in framework that allows users to create apps tailored to their individual mission requirements. TAK has been utilized by more than 10,000 actual warfighters in real-world circumstances, including the US inauguration ceremony.
