The people who believed they were the brightest person in the room and needed to be in charge of all corporate decisions were the ones that had the least success and alienated their colleagues the most. You want the company’s leadership to be made up of the smartest people possible. They are not to be feared, and you shouldn’t worry about what your staff will think of you in comparison. Give Your People Power. You are not concentrating where you need to be if you are micromanaging every choice made within the organization. Less talking and more listening, we’ve all been in meetings where the “blow hard” CEO takes up 90% of the time and just loves to brag about himself or herself. As a listener, it is really exhausting, and everyone just tunes them out, which negates the whole point of the meeting. Turn that around and speak for 10% of the time.
