Hungary’s security forces will take the lead in the multinational SOFEX exercise.
Between 25 April and 13 May, Hungary will host the Black Swan international special operations exercise. The exercise’s planning and organization are more complex; more parts are involved, and the tasks are more complicated. Two Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4 multi-role combat aircraft will arrive in Hungary for the first time this year. The Black Swan exercise series incorporates many aspects that are essential parts of the training process. The drills are part of a procedure that will prepare members to meet NATO’s requirements for a year-long stand-by mission in 2025.
This year’s exercise will focus on system analysis and evaluation. SOFEX Black Swan 2022 will be the first major NATO exercise led by Hungary, with aircraft and aircrews from the HDF 86th Szolnok Helicopter Base participating.
