Lawmakers and defense officials frequently cite small enterprises as a source of innovation. However, linking small businesses with the almost $1 billion in cash awarded by the Defense Department each year may be complicated and time-consuming, even down to the admission procedure. Under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs, a new method intends to change how small businesses engage with the Department of Defense. The Defense SBIR/STTR Innovation Portal was designed to make it easy for businesses to bring brilliant ideas straight to the Department of Defense and win new business (DSIP). The digital platform, which was created with the Army, US Special Operations Command, and the Defense Logistics Agency in mind, integrates needs for 15 DOD components, including the Army, US Special Operations Command, and the Defense Logistics Agency.
