The Air Force has taken disciplinary action against 15 members of Airman 1st Class Jack Teixeira’s chain of command in connection with a security breach that allowed Teixeira, a 21-year-old National Guardsman, to remove classified information from his office and post it online. While Teixeira was found to have acted alone, the Air Force’s investigation revealed instances where he accessed and discussed intelligence he shouldn’t have had access to, and his supervisors were aware but failed to report it promptly. The investigation also highlighted inadequately inspected workspaces, inconsistent guidance for reporting security breaches, and a lack of supervision and understanding among the command regarding access to sensitive information.
