A month before his assassination and the formal end of the ACW, President Lincoln reminded the country during his 2nd inaugural address that part of the end of the war process involves caring for those who had borne the brunt of battle. Too often today, soldiers who served honorably are issued other than honorable discharges for minor infractions that stem from PTSD, brain injuries, or other trauma. Tyson Manker is a former infantry Marine who served in the early days of the Iraq War. He was a part of one of the first units to return home in September 2003. Although he had seen his fair share of traumatic violence he was cited by NCIS for a cannabis infraction. He was disillusioned about the whole process for a long time but after learning there were plenty of others who were in his position he decided to enter law school and now runs a nonprofit dedicating to providing legal services to former troops with PTSD seeking discharge upgrades.
