The Army’s venture to place navigation, intelligence, situational awareness, and advanced target tracking into the viewfinders of grunts, special operations, and those who help them in the close fight is the Integrated Visual Augmentation System or IVAS.

IVAS is a goggle that utilizes augmented reality to layer visuals into the user’s vision. The Army had planned to release IVAS in early 2022, but owing to irregularities in the heads-up screens and humidity control issues with some equipment, the Army has incorporated another round of trials and moved the deployment date back to late 2022.
