A containership and an LNG tanker worked alongside the US Coast Guard when a distress signal was sent out by Carl Michael Corey. Corey, a British sailor, was on a 36-foot sailboat in the Caribbean. When his boat became disabled, he sent out a distress signal that was heard by a Hong Kong-flagged container ship CSCL Long Beach. They relayed the signal to the Coast Guard who quickly responded to the signal, as well as a Singapore flagged LNG tanker, Gemmata. Gemmata then acted as a communication platform between the Coast Guard and Corey, who was rescued.
