Child runs 7 miles to honor Marine dad killed in 2015 Black Hawk crash | Marine Corps Times

Must Read

Makenzie Kemp, a 7-year-old girl, ran a seven-mile race in memory of her father and six other Marines killed in a Black Hawk training crash. Makenzie and her mother, Jenna, had already registered for the Marine Raider Foundation’s 5-mile run in Pinehurst, North Carolina, during Memorial Day weekend, but at the last minute, Makenzie requested that it be extended an additional two miles — one mile for each Marine. When Sgt. Kerry Michael Kemp got killed on a training mission in Santa Rosa Sound, Florida, in 2015, the little child was just a year old. Seven Marines and four Army National Guard personnel were killed in the attack. Jenna Kemp, his wife, was expecting a child at the time.
