A study demonstrates that children with long-term COVID are at greater risk for further health problems.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention analyzed data from almost 800,000 children and adolescents with COVID diagnoses. The research compared them to 2.5 million children who did not have a coronavirus diagnosis. Long COVID occurs when symptoms persist for at least four weeks after the first infection. Children with prolonged COVID were more likely to get myocarditis and renal failure.
