Canada’s Armed Forces Choose SIG SAUER P320 as New Sidearm, Replacing Browning 9mm

The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) has officially adopted the SIG SAUER P320 as their new sidearm, replacing the Browning 9mm that has been in use since World War II.

The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) has officially adopted the SIG SAUER P320 as their new sidearm, replacing the Browning 9mm that has been in use since World War II. The P320, designated as the C22 in Canada, offers improved safety, reliability, and accuracy. The initial delivery of 7,000 pistols has been completed, and fielding of the C22 is underway.

  1. Adoption of the P320: The Canadian Armed Forces have chosen the SIG SAUER P320 as their new sidearm, replacing the Browning 9mm that has been in service since 1944.
  2. Enhanced Features: The C22 (P320) offers contract enhancements such as improved ergonomics, a 17-round capacity, and a visible loaded chamber indicator. It also incorporates the innovative 3-point takedown safety and a five-point safety system.
  3. Focus on Safety and Effectiveness: The selection process prioritized safety, reliability, and accuracy, with the P320 meeting these requirements. The C22 ensures operational readiness and effectiveness for the Canadian Armed Forces.
