The declaration, signed by Lieutenant Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba and delivered on state television by another officer, stated that the takeover was peaceful and that those seized were being held in a safe place. On Monday, Kabore’s whereabouts were unclear, with contradictory stories of his location. On Monday, the US State Department confirmed that Kabore is being held by the military and asked for his freedom.
