According to Purple Heart recipient and combat veteran Jeffrey J. Engle, president of Conquest Cyber, who served in the U.S. Special Operations in the Army, 50 years ago, years before personal computers were widely used, there was no such thing as cybersecurity.
Now that technology is pervasive, cybersecurity is essential to both the operation of our nation’s key infrastructure and our daily lives. Our country is far more vulnerable to cyberattacks now that so much of the world is connected to the internet, including the organizations in charge of various pieces of our infrastructure. Although the threat is increasing every day, our government’s reactions to earlier hacks have been excruciatingly slow and underwhelming. He developed a set of five values based on this special operations philosophy.
DRIVE
EXCELLENCE
LOYALTY
TEAMWORK.
ADAPTABILITY.
