Brave Dog Saves Owner From Burglary And Saves Cats From House Fire | BBC News

Must Read

The bravest dog in Britain rescued two pet cats from a house fire and saved his owner from burglars by recovering the stolen goods.

Owner Karen Crosby’s life was saved, and the 12-year-old Alaskan Malamute Storm was awarded the Blue Cross Medal for protecting the family cats from the fire. In 2019, when intruders broke into the home of 64-year-old Karen, support dog Storm immediately came to the victim’s aid. He chased the burglars out of the house, causing them to lose their loot and alert a bystander who called the police. Storm independently rescued Karen’s pets from her burning home, his genuine bravery was on display. The courageous dog pushed two of Karen’s cats out of a window as the home filled with smoke, saving their lives, and then quietly waited by the kitchen door for his own rescue. The Blue Cross charity was established with the intention of assisting disadvantaged animals and their owners. In selecting the winner for this year, Chris Burghes, chief executive of Blue Cross, said: “We were really struck by the number of pets that truly do benefit their owners’ mental health, some even stopping their owners from taking their own lives.
