Eric Martel, CEO of Bombardier Inc., expressed reservations about Canada’s prospective decision to purchase reconnaissance jets straight from Boeing Co. rather of engaging its domestic aerospace industry through a competitive bidding procedure.
Martel’s remarks follow a recent media story that Canada was thinking about spending several billion dollars to buy up to twelve P-8 Poseidon aircraft from Boeing. Martel spoke in favor of using Bombardier’s aircraft, claiming that the Global 6500 model “will be the right-sized solution and will respond to Canada’s needs”. When asked for comment, Boeing did not answer right away.
