Australian Defence Force chief gives Afghanistan veterans 28 days to explain why they should keep war honours | ABC

Must Read

The commander of the Australian Defence Force has demanded senior officers provide justification for why they should retain honors and medals bestowed during the Afghanistan war.

The opposition claims that the government needs to justify the recommendation of this procedure. Veterans and members of the ADF have been given 28 days to justify maintaining their honors. Defence Minister Peter Dutton later put the issue on hold, but this month General Campbell reopened the procedure with the new Minister Richard Marles’ approval. Former SAS captain Mr. Hastie argued that the previous administration had taken action to address both the alleged war crimes and more general cultural issues noted by the Brereton Inquiry.

  1. When I initially left a comment I seem to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and from now on each time a comment is added I get four emails with the same comment. Is there a way you are able to remove me from that service? Thanks.

  2. Howdy! This article couldn’t be written any better! Looking at this article reminds me of my previous roommate! He constantly kept talking about this. I am going to forward this article to him. Fairly certain he’s going to have a good read. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Many thanks for this article. I might also like to mention that it can become hard while you are in school and starting out to establish a long credit ranking. There are many college students who are simply trying to endure and have long or positive credit history can often be a difficult issue to have.

  4. I feel this is one of the such a lot significant information for me. And i’m happy reading your article. However want to remark on some common things, The website style is ideal, the articles is in point of fact great : D. Good activity, cheers

  5. The very next time I read a blog, Hopefully it doesn’t disappoint me as much as this one. After all, I know it was my choice to read, but I genuinely believed you’d have something interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of moaning about something you could possibly fix if you weren’t too busy looking for attention.

  6. I am extremely inspired along with your writing skills and also with the format for your weblog. Is this a paid topic or did you customize it yourself? Anyway keep up the excellent quality writing, it?s uncommon to look a nice weblog like this one today..

  7. I do like the way you have framed this particular issue and it does give us a lot of fodder for consideration. Nevertheless, because of everything that I have personally seen, I only wish when the responses pile on that individuals stay on issue and not get started upon a tirade involving some other news of the day. Yet, thank you for this superb point and though I can not concur with this in totality, I value the perspective.

  8. Definitely believe that which you said. Your favorite justification appeared to be on the web the easiest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get irked while people think about worries that they just don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also defined out the whole thing without having side-effects , people can take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks

  9. I have to thank you for the efforts you have put in penning this site. I’m hoping to check out the same high-grade blog posts by you in the future as well. In truth, your creative writing abilities has inspired me to get my very own website now 😉

  10. Thanks for revealing your ideas. The first thing is that scholars have a choice between national student loan plus a private education loan where it really is easier to go with student loan consolidation than in the federal education loan.

  11. Another politician second-guessing the people who were there on the ground so they can be in the political limelight. I was in Iraq for 2 1/2 years and made three short deployments into Afghanistan. I know what it is like to be in the midst of a guerrilla war. It’s confusing, frustrating, and dangerous. I was in everything from firefights to IED attacks. I saw the immediate aftermath of the 2008 Taliban terrorist attack on the Serena Hotel where they killed unarmed victims including small children. Our compound in Kandahar was bombed in an insider attack. Sometimes you only have seconds to make a decision. This situation was investigated, but now this bag of wind is saying everyone who was in Afghanistan is somehow responsible and guilty unless they can prove otherwise. The Australian government is especially messed up but this is a trait shared by all politicians who sit back and judge things they have no real understanding of. The US Government did the same thing to their own diplomatic security team in Baghdad. They send people into dirty and deadly situations, then condemn them for trying to do their jobs and survive.
