The federal government of Somalia stated in a statement on Sunday that fresh battle between two factions of the jihadist movement took place on the boundaries of the Harardhere district in the country’s central coastal province of Mudug, killing at least seven Al-Shabaab terrorists.
The administration emphasized that after Al-Shabaab experienced a string of setbacks in Mudug, a hub of terrorist activity, the two organizations had disagreed about turning themselves into the Somali Armed Forces (SAF). The change occurred at the same time that President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s newly-elected administration stepped up military operations against the al-Shabaab organization, which is affiliated with al-Qaeda.
