Thousands of Army service members and their families have been relocated due to polluted water in the Navy’s water system at Aliamanu Military Reservation and Red Hill areas. The Army intends to use a two-phase flush and filter approach to restore safe drinking water in these places.
On Friday, the Army Corps of Engineers held a virtual town hall on Facebook Live to discuss its plan to clean and filter the contaminated water system. Carbon filtration water filters will be used, with the intention of having them installed by January 2. According to the current plan, the process will take at least a month, with residents returning home early next year.
