The next Army sergeant major has been chosen from among other outstanding Fort Bragg soldiers.
Michael Weimer, Command Sgt. Maj. is the senior enlisted adviser for the United States. Army Chief of Staff Gen. James C. McConville said on December 12 that Army Special Operations Command would become the Army’s 17th sergeant major. In August 2023, Weimer will succeed the current Sgt. Maj. of the Army Michael Grinston in his duties. Grinston has also held positions at Fort Bragg, including senior enlisted adviser for the United States. from July 2017 to July 2019, and again from July 2019 to August 2019, he served as the Army’s highest enlisted officer.
