Army announces next three brigades deploying to Europe | Army Times

Must Read

On Wednesday afternoon, the Army revealed new deployments for three brigades and a division headquarters, indicating which units will assume posts in Europe as part of the ongoing Atlantic Resolve deterrence campaign.

The leadership of the 1st Infantry Division will be replaced as the two-star headquarters in charge of the American side of the NATO-led mission by the headquarters element of the 4th Infantry Division, which will leave Fort Carson, Colorado. The 101st Division Sustainment Brigade out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky, will be replaced by the 4th Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade when they deploy with their division headquarters. The 3rd ABCT of the division stationed in Fort Hood, Texas, will be replaced by the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Cavalry Division. According to a division press statement, the “Black Jack Brigade” recently finished another Atlantic Resolve rotation in 2020. The Combat Aviation Brigade of the 1st Armored Division will switch places with the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, which is based at Hunter Army Airfield close to Savannah, Georgia. Due to operational security considerations, Army authorities stated that the rotations will take place in the first half of 2023 but did not provide planned handover dates. According to an information sheet on Army Europe and Africa, units sent overseas as part of Atlantic Resolve normally stay there for nine months.
