Archdeacon: Larry Connor is at it again. This time, with a world record skydive | Dayton Daily

Must Read

It was quite amazing, Larry Connor remarked. The sky was a stunning shade of blue.

In a plane, Larry Connor was attempting to see outside through frosted glass. In Davis, California, he had been inhaling only pure oxygen for the last thirty minutes before takeoff in order to prevent decompression sickness. He would soon jump out of the plane at 26,500 feet and begin a two-minute freefall into earth at close to 200 mph while the plane was moving at a speed of 130 mph and minus 20 degrees outside. The first all-private mission to the International Space Station, known as Axiom 1, was led earlier this year by the founder and managing general partner of the Miami Township-based Connor Group real estate company, a local philanthropist, sports adventurer, and ardent supporter of the Dayton Flyers basketball team. He has raced cars, off-road vehicles, and aircraft for many years. He has also climbed some of the tallest mountains in the world and traveled the world while white water rafting. Now, he and the four Americans With their HALO (high altitude, low opening) jumps, often known as military free falls, the Air Force Pararescue jumpers he joined aimed to break two world records.
