An Army M1 Abrams tank dubbed ‘A Horse With No Name’ is riding through Poland | Task and Purpose

Must Read

‘A Horse With No Name’, The tank’s name is a reference to the hit song written by Air Force brat Dewey Bunnell.

The M1A2 Abrams appeared alongside other tanks from the 1st Battalion, 68th Armor Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division (3-4 ABCT) during a Borsuk 2022 live-fire exercise with Polish partner forces in the country’s city of Nowa Deba last week. During the past five years, Poland has received a steady influx of American military men and supplies. In order “to improve deterrence, increase interoperability, and meet U.S. commitments to NATO partners,” as stated by the United States, the 3-4 ABCT deployed to Poland in 2017 to build a brigade headquarters. At the time, the Polish embassy stated that. In order to bolster its capabilities in Europe in the face of “great power competition,” specifically Russian aggression, the Army activated its V Corps in 2020. In reaction to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, more than 10,000 of the 100,000 American service members stationed throughout Europe have been sent to Poland, and the United States is currently planning to build its first permanent military facility in Eastern Europe.
