An Anti-Inflammatory Diet Actually Isn’t All That Special | Men’s Health

Of course, many famous people who advertise their anti-inflammatory diet avoid items like nightshade vegetables like tomatoes, bell peppers, or eggplant. For instance, Tom Brady is said to avoid eating tomatoes, bell peppers, or eggplant because they are said to create inflammation. The nightshade family does not, in fact, have any effect on inflammation, according to Leslie Bonci, a nutrition consultant for the Kansas City Chiefs. In fact, she claims that “all of these foods have phytonutrients that are anti-inflammatory.”

These days, inflammation is thought to be the cause of just about everything, painful joints, heart illness, and Depression. Inflammation though, isn’t always a bad thing. It truly has the ability to shield you from infections and injuries when used sparingly. For instance, when you cut your finger, your immune system responds by directing inflammatory cells to the wound. The healing process is subsequently initiated by these cells, which in the interim cause discomfort, bruising, and redness. Inflammation that is “acute” (or brief) is in fact beneficial.
