Air Force asks Lockheed Martin to build 42 LRASM subsonic anti-ship cruise missiles in $124.9 million order | Intelligent Aerospace

Must Read

According to John Keller of Military & Aerospace Electronics, US Air Force airborne weapons experts have asked Lockheed Martin Corp. to build 42 next-generation AGM-158C Long-Range Anti-Ship Missiles (LRASM) to be used against high-priority enemy targets such as warships, troop carrier ships, and guided-missile cruisers.

LRASM is a cooperative project of DARPA, the Navy, and the Air Force to develop an improved anti-ship missile that can be launched from the Navy’s F/A-18E/F Super Hornet jet fighter bomber and the Air Force’s B-1B Lancer long-range tactical bomber. The F-35 Lightning II joint strike fighter, the P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol jet, and the Navy Mark 41 shipboard Vertical Launch System will include all launch LRASM in the future.
