A Bitcoin holder said he regained access to roughly $400,000 in cryptocurrency after being locked out of an old wallet for more than a decade, with help from an artificial intelligence tool.
The user, who goes by “Cprkrn” on X, claims he lost access to around 5 BTC in 2014 after changing his password while intoxicated and later forgetting it.
The recovered Bitcoin had been purchased when BTC traded near $250 and it is now worth roughly $400,000.
According to the user’s posts, years of recovery attempts, including brute-force password tools that tested trillions of combinations, failed to unlock the wallet. The breakthrough reportedly came when he turned to Anthropic’s Claude AI and uploaded a large collection of old computer files linked to his early crypto activity.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT OMG CLAUDE JUST CRACKED THIS SHIT, THANK YOU @AnthropicAI THANK YOU @DarioAmodei NAMING MY KID AFTER YOU 😍https://t.co/gObNirRDpS https://t.co/ByTdIM4d20 pic.twitter.com/xB5LUJb6Pe

According to the user, the AI system was able to identify an old backup wallet file stored on a college-era computer and reconstruct how it related to the wallet’s structure. The AI system also identified a configuration issue that had blocked previous recovery attempts and ultimately helped decrypt the file.
The user described the password that had locked the wallet as: “lol420f*ckthePOLICE!”
The posts quickly drew reactions across crypto and tech communities, with users expressing surprise that a decade-old wallet could be recovered using modern AI tools.
“This is insane. Congrats man,” one user commented, according to the thread.
